BANKRUPTCY LAWS.

[PER PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Masterton, July 22. At the Alasterton Chamber of Commerce yesterday a remit from the Dannevirke Chamber was discussed suggesting an amendment to the Bankruptcy Act to enable creditors in a bankrupt estate to appoint a private assignee, instead of allowing the estate to be administered by official assignees. After some discussion it was resolved “That the present system was better than the one suggested, and that in the event of an incompetent deputy assignee being appointed the proper course would be for the citizens to petition for his removal.”
