PAPAKURA.

A very pleasant evening was spent in the local schoolroom on Friday .when a. committee of ladies entertained the people of the district at a social evening. Over sixty people were present, including members of the Taradale Young Ladies’ Society. Numerous games and competitions were indulged in and carried on right merrily until a late hour.

The following were the winners of the competitions :- Peanut Hunt. Alis* Minnie Craven and Air. Ridley ; post card competition. Airs. Tulford ; floral wedding. Aliss Monaghan : hat trimming (gentlemen). Air. A. Tourneau : nail-driv-ing (ladies). Airs. Symonds: titles of liooks and song-*. Mi<s Skie Fulford. A special word of praise is due to Misses Fulford, Fonrneau and Westmoreland for their untiring efforts in making the evening such a complete success.
