LABOUR AND RELIGION.
LLOYD GEORGE IN THE PULPIT. London, June 26. Delivering a sermon in Welsh at the Welsh Baptist Chapel, London, Mr. Lloyd George said that the Labour party were making a mistake in believing that it was possible to win reforms through the people who suffen alone. Reform was impossible without the leadership of men who would gain nothing thereby. This self-sacrifice had proved of all importance in interpreting politics by the light of religion. If the Christian Church were destroyed there would be nothing to protect the people from the forces of despotism, cruelty, and self-seeking.
