ANNUAL TOURNAMENT.

The observance of Monday as the King’s Birthday instead of Saturday, has judging by the large number of entries received, had very little effect on the Hawke’s Bay Hockey Association tournament, which is to be held on Monday next. All the loading teams in the district are taking part and given good weather the tournament promises to be one of the most successful yet held here. Considering the success of our ladies’ and men’s representatives during the past season, it is safe to say that hockey here is as good as in any part of the Dominion. Visitors to Cornwall Park on Mon-

day can therefore rely on seeing a first class exposition of the game. Last year the tournament drew a crowd of over two thousand spectators. As there are no counter attractions on Monday, the attendance should exceed last year’s. Special trains are running to and from Hastings on Monday.
