SUNDAY GAMES.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir. —In Monday’s “Tribune” there was a letter from a correspondent calling attention to a resolution of the Borough Couoncil prohibiting Sunday hockey and other outdoor sports in Cornwall j Park. I am no sportsman in the i j ordinary sense of the word, but I J admire the sporting instinct in others. 1 would like to ask hockey sportsmen. football sportsmen, cricket sportsmen, and every other kind of sportsmen what sort of sportsmen they are if they are going to take this resolution of the Council lying down Are they going to quietly submit to this bit of Ecclesiastical black-beetleism ? If so. they don’t deserve the name of sportsmen or the right to play their respective games. It appears Ito me that those who have been playing in the Park or elsewhere on Sundays should meet together and form a working committee for the purpose of calling a public { meeting to appoint delegates to > wait on the Council, and if the (Council are obdurate, to play in I the Park on Sundays in spite of the. Council. If the Council gives way. all well and good. Anyhow, the Sunday right should be fought for and won. I am right for s'towards expenses if it should be required.—l am, etc.. AN ADMIRER OF DICKENS.
