CLIVE.

(Own Correspondent.) A most successful social function was held in Clive last night, under the auspices of the Clive Football Club. About 70 couples graced the floor when the grand march began and continued dancing to music supplied by a string band under the direction of Mrs. Hastings. The hall and supper room were very tastefully decorated for the occasion, and the supper, arranged by the ladies’ social committee, was par excellence. Mr. D. Jackson was an efficient M.C. Extra dances were played by Miss B. Harrison. Due praise must be given to the secretaries. Messrs. A. Brady and T. Cotterill, w’hose untiring efforts made the ball the success it was. A T isitors from Napier, Hastings, Taradale and Meanee included Mesdames Highley and Benson; Misses Pufflett, Gwen Prewett, K. Crowley, B. Harrison, Kelly, Pulford. Hansen, Brady (2), Lord (2), Greeves. O’Connell, A. Stevens Lincoln, Goldfinch (2), NobleCampbell (2), E. Morrison (AVellington), and M. Sellars (Palmerston North), Messrs. Quinlivan (2), A. Rae, AX. Farrelly. E. Dwyer, Roberts and J. Rogers.
