They had many quarrels, and yes- I terday he thrice shot his wife with a revolver. She was taken to the hospital at 1 Keterz. Kurtz then barracaded the doors, soaked the furniture in petroleum and set fire to the house. After this he haranged the crovrd from the' balcony, and ended by shooting himself in public as the house be-< came enveloped in flames.
