I The fete and baby show at the I Recreation Ground on Saturday l afternoon in aid of the funds of I the Hawke’s Bay Cricket AssoI ciation was a very successful affair. The attendance was very good, in spite of counter attractions, and ’ the Association should benefit sub- ; stantially. f Two cricket matches were in I progress simultaneously—Railway I v. Napier, all ladies, and Ladies v. ■ Gents. The latter match created 1 great amusement, for the gents ! were attired in hobble skirts, used > pick handles as hats, and were ‘ compelled to play left-handed. Misses Uoates (2). Jones. ! The “Harem Skirt Lady” paid * a visit to the fete during the after- , noon, and created quite a sensation. Everything passed off smoothly, and Mr. Silver, the secretary. is to he congratulated on : the perfection of his arrangements. The Battalion Band was in attendance. and rendered several selections.
