FLOODS IN QUEENSLAND.

RIVERS IN HIGH FLOOD.

Brisbane, April 2.

Phenomenal rain is reported in some-districts. Cairns reports the river and creeks in high flood and still rising. The railway is inundated and several washaways have occurred. The bridges are damaged at Kuranda. As much as 42in. have been recorded in 48 hours. The total rainfall for three months has been Bft. Sin.

Much damage has been done to the cane crops. (Received 3, 10.30 a.m.)

Ingham is surrounded with floods waters. The residents of low-lying portions of the town have removed.

Police Boats are out at Kuranda rescuing people from low-lying areas.

A train from Cairns was stopped by the flood only a few miles out. The passengers returned to town. Telegraphic communication in interrupted. 5

The full extent of damage is unknown.
