TARADALE.

A dance was held last night in the Oddfellows’ Hall, Taradale, under the auspices of the Central H.B. Dog Trial Club. About 70 couples graced the floor to music supplied by Messrs. G. Ninnes (piano), Signor Silvia Truda (violin), and G. Chegwidden (cornet). The catering was in the hands of the ladies, under the leadership of Mrs. R. C. Dolbel. Messrs. H. Codd and M. Morrison made capable M’s.C. Extra music was played by Mrs. B. Cargill and Mrs. Enwright, and Mr. D. Joseph rendered two songs in a very capable manner. A vote of thanks was
moved by Mr. C. W. Davies to Mrs. Dolbel for the capable and energetic manner in which she carried out the secretarial duties and work in connection with the dance.
Among those present at the dance were noticed :—Mrs. Currie in black taffeta, Mrs. R. C. Dolbel, black silk; Mrs. B. Cargill, white muslin ; Miss A. Codd, pale blue silk; Miss O. Codd, pale blue silk; Miss Ridley, white; Miss Morrisbn, cream silk; Mrs. C. Brown, Mrs. Mclvor (Mohaka), Mrs. Mark Davis, Misses Woods (2). Misses Harding’ (3), Miss Brown, Miss E. Richardson, Mrs. E. Ricketts, and Miss Corbin. The poll taken at Taradale yesterday on the proposal to raise £3OOO for the erection of Town Board buildings resulted in the proposal being carried. The voting was as follows: — For the proposal 140 Against the proposal.. 8 Informal 1
Total votes recorded.. 149 Majority for Proposal. 132
A meeting of the River Board will be held in the Pgblic Readingroom, Taradale, to-night. The annual meeting of the Central Hawke’s Bay Sheep Dog Trial Club will be held to-night at 8 o’clock, in Mr. T. Moynihan’s Hotel, Taradale, when all interested are invited to attends
