TARADALE POST OFFICE.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Taradale has wakened up lately, and things are beginning to stir. Perhaps this is through the last Town Board election. The

people certainly wanted rousing ir many respects, and it is evideni that our new town board is goins to do wonderful things in the neai future. A few of its members art very anxious to have a post-office, and they are going to the expense of having a petition taken rounc for signatures. A member stated at a meeting in the Oddfellows Hall that the petition has had s sick and tired feeling at times, and is now making its third attempt tc get round. I wonder if anybody has signed that petition before thinking the matter seriously over. We know the Government has acquired a section, and money has been allocated for the building, hence we know the new post-office must come in spite of opposition. But to hurry proceedings without any reason whatsoever makes it appear as though we are not satisfied with the way the post-office is carried on at present. Is there anything to be gained by a postoffice here ? I fail to see that there is. Under the new arrangement Mb e advantages will be less, and the expenses in some cases more. The office will be open fewer hours, and we shall not enjoy the civility we now get. Yet we are anxious to sacrifice the present advantages for a building called a post-office. Our postmaster has held his position for 12 years. He is popular, a good business man. knows ti e country and the people well, an r does not have to seek outside a 1 vi«'e as would a stranger holding the same position.—Yours, etc., TARA DALE RESIDENT. Taradale, March 2lth. 191).
