FROZEN MEAT.
The C.C. and D. Company, Ltd., London, have to-day cabled the following report on the frozen meat market:—The market is weaker and there is a further decline in values. “To-day’s prices are as follows: Napier, Wellington and North Island mutton, 3fd ; lamb, first quality, sjd; second quality, 4|d ; beef, hindquarters, 3fd; forequarters, 3d.”
ADDINGTON STOCK SALE.
At Addington yesterday there were large entries of stock and a good attendance. Fat cattle made a recovery in prices to the extent of about 2/- per 1001 b. Store sheep and fat lambs were both much easier. Fat wethers sold about the same as last week. Wet ewes were down about 1/- per head. There was a better demand for store cattle, but pigs were dull of sale. Store sheep again found very heavy yarding, and included a very considerable number that had arrived by sea, these latter being of mixed ages and mostly in I low condition. The scarcity of feed affected the demand, especially for sheep in low condition. There was only a small proportion of wethers offered, and they sold up to late rates. Good locallybred ewes and the best of the oversea ewes sold very well, but inferior sorts were easier. Lambs, both local and those from a distance, were weaker in price.
