NAPIER LICENSING COMMITTEE.
The Licensing Committee met yesterday in the Napier Court, house. Present: Messrs. S. E. McCarthy, S.M., J. J. Niven, J. McGrath, and G. A. Macdonald. Percy Martin, of the Criterion Hotel, was granted a conditional license to sell liquor at Napier Park on March 15th and 16th. George Searle, licensee of the Clarendon Hotel, was granted permission to transfer his license to William Thomas Collins Reading. The police reported that they suspected the licensee of a hotel in the district of allowing Sunday trading and card p laying to be carried on on his premises.—it was decided to forward a caution to the licensee. It was stated that it is compulsory for licensees to keep a light burning at the main entrance to their hotels during tne night.--In this connection it was decided to notify the licensee of the Ferry Hotel, West Shore, that he must comply with this rule. This concluded the business beI fore the meeting.
