WEDDING.

Oniahu was enlivened yesterday l»v the above wedding orc of considerable importance in the Maori world, ami the district was gay with wedding guests. A sumptuous feast, estimated to have cost £lOOO was spread, anil visitors from far and wide wen* present. The wedding cakes, lavishly ornamented, weighed 6 cwt. They were the work of Messrs. Warren, of Hastings. and Yoitngson. of Napier, who excelled themselves in their tasks, producing quite works of art. The bride’s costume was

cream satin with silver trimmings, veil and orange blossoms, and lovely shower bouquet. The bridesmaids. Misses Knrupo and Win lata Kemp, were dressed in white silk with Leghorn hats and shepherd’s crooks. Two small pages dressed in cream satin were also in attendance.

In the evening a ball was held, which was very largely attended, and kept up with great enjoyment to the inspiriting music of Tombs’ Quadrille Band, even the thirty dances gone through failing to weary the animated dancers. The Grand March was headed by the bride and bridegroom. Mr. Smiler acted as M.C.. with much satisfaction. Mr. Warren catered for the supper.
