INSTITUTION OF SUNSHINE

LODGE No. 74, NAPIER.

A meeting was held in Abbot’s Hall, Napier, last evening, Bro. R. A. Stokes, D.C.T., presiding. The Chairman, in opening the meeting, said that the object was to institute a new Lodge to be called “The Sunshine Lodge No. 74* I. A charter had been granted by the Grand Lodge ' of New Zealand, and there was a good prospect of the Lodge being a success. Seven members were admitted on card, three were readmitted, and three were initiated. The District Chief Templar then declared the Lodge instituted, and proceeded with the election of officers, the result being as follows:— Chief Templar, Bro. R. A. Stokes ; V.S., Sister Mrs. Venables; Sec., Bro. G. W. Venables; Treas., Bro. J. Fraser; Fin. Sec., Sister Mrs. Stokes; Mar., Bro. H. Elmes; D.M., Sister L. Howie; Chaplain, Sister C. Watts; Assist. Sec., Sister Feneker; Guard, Bro. S. Eaton; L. D., Bro. S. Eaton, after which he installed them into their various offices, assisted by Br. Woodward, D.Sec., as Installing Mar., and Bro. F. Palmer, D.A.S., as Installing D.M.

The election of district delegates was left over until a future date. Bro. R. A. Stokes was elected as Representative to Grand Lodge to be held in Dunedin at Easter, and Sister Mrs. G. W. Venables at Alternate Representative. Greetings were received from Bro. T. Wilkinson, C.T., Bond of Unity Lodge No. 59, and Bro. C. Woodward, P.C.T., Hope of Ahuriri No. 84, these were accepted and reciprocated. It was decided that the Lodge meet at 7.45 p.m. on Mondays until a more suitable even*ng can be arranged.

The programme for next meeting is “Impromptu Speeches," with, Bro. Venables in charge. After congratulatory speeches by members and visitors, the Lodge was closed with the usual ceremony by the Chief Templar.
