MR. MASSEY LODGES APPEAL.

Wellington, Feb. 16. Notice of appeal has been lodged on-behalf of Mr. Massey against the judgment given for the “New Zealand Times” yesterday in the libel case. The grounds for appeal are that the juty’s verdict was so defective that judgment could not be given upon it; that the Judge, misdirected the jury in certain matters ; that the verdict was against the weight of evidence; that the jury’s finding was not a verdict for defendant Company; that the Judge admitted certain improper evidence to which plaintiff objected.
