OBITUARY.

(Received 23. 8.35 a.m.) New York, Jan. 22. General Owen Summers, veteran of the Civil war and of the Phillippiues* campaign has died at Portland. Oregon. Dunedin. Jan. 23. The death occurred this morning of Mr. J. H. Ch apinan. headmaster of Arthur street school, and at one time a prominent figure in Rugby football. The death is also reported, at Melbourne, of Mrs. M. Thom son. wife of the member for Duncdin North.
