RIFLE-SHOOTING.
PALMERSTON v. NAPIER. At the Napier Working Men’s Club on Saturday night, six of its billiard playing members met an equal number representing the Palmerston North Working Men s Club in friendly contest. The Na pier men won by four games to two. although Palmerston’s aggregate number of points. 1089. exceed that of Napier, 991. The various games resulted as follows, the Palmerston players being named first .-- Brown (190) v. Mawsori (200). Short (150) v. Brownette (200). Hawkins (188) v. F. Gilberd (200). Wells (2uo) v. Walker (116). Dury (200) v. Anderson (75). Cleland (161 )*v. Hartley (200). The visitors were entertained at supper after play was over, and yesterday they enjoyed a drive to various places of interest as the guests of the Napier Working Men's Club.

The tiring conditions were trying, hut there was splendid shooting. The competitors ineinded Champion Halliday and ex-Champions King and Hyde. The results of the shooting were as follows: — Linton Match: Rifleman Lumsden (Sandon) £2 10 Pte. Govenloch (Woodville) £2 10 -. Sergt. Frank (Nelson) £2,10'-, and Rifleman Feast (Opaki) £1 tied with 5o points each. Rifleman Judd (Karori) £3 won the Oroua Match v.itn 67 points. Sergt. Frank (Nelson) £-2 10 65 points; Pte. Loveday (Woodville) £2, 63 points: Rifleman Lumsden (Sandon). £l. 63 points; Rifleman King (Opaki), £l, 63 points. The Manawatu Match was won by Pte. Griggsl Palmerston North Rifles), £l. 60 points. Pte. Loved.ay £3, 68 points: Pte. G. traw (Linton) £2, 68 points ; Sergt. Dalziell (Palmerston North Guards) £2, 68 points; Rifleman Clark (Rangitikei) £l, 67 points: Halliday (Karori) £l, 67 points. Tn matches 2 and 3 in the grand aggregate the five prizes were won by Pte. Lumsden (Sandon), 108 points. The Champion Gold Medal and £2 was won by Sergt. Dalzidl (Palmerston North Guards). 179 points, and the gold and silver medal and 30/- by Rifleman Judd (Karori), 179 points. A silver medal and £1 was won by Rifleman Craw (Linton). 178 points, and Sergt. Frank (Nelson), J 77 points, won 10/-.
