DRAUGHT HORSE TRADE WITH AUSTRALIA.
Wo note Dr. Cameron, of the Victorian Veterinary Department, s ; rtes that for the year ending June, ifilo. tin? number of draught horses imported from New Zealand was 1336. made up as follows £ I !r.o Woskers (mares and
geldings) at £4* each .... 13.2(H) 290 Stud .Mares at £B9 each 23.200 ! ! 6 Sial!ions at £2OO each . . 29.200 paid to New Zealand £93,600 This is a Big income for our fanners to gather From the sale of one class of stock, arid’ it is the result of y ears of very careful training and judicious importations by the early sellers (chiefly in the south,’ combined with the enterprise of later day breeders who have spared no expense in procuring the best stock the Old Country produces. We venture the opinion that the hi st New Zealand bred horses at the present time would hold their own in any show ring in the world. z
