FROZEN MEAT. MARKET PROSPECTS GOOD (Received 14, 10.0 a.m.) London, Jan. 13.
Weddel’s Review says the frozen meat trade has improved. The consumptive demand for all food >-uff seems assured for at least some months ahead, and frozen meat may expect to participate in the demand to the full. The Colonial Consignment Company’s report says the volume of ptobable supplies precludes anticipations of high prices, but it is not unreasonable to hope for a steady market and level values approximating those of 1910.

Messrs. Dalgety and Company have received the following cable ach ee from their London house, utMier date 12th instant:—Rabbit skins, sales opened with further change. New Zealand full winter very small quantity sold at 1/llAd; super, 2/2. No great demand at these prices. 4150 offered, 3223 sold. Mutton tallow : Since our last wire, is 3d per cwt. lower. Other descriptions are unchanged. COCKSFOOT SEED.
A correspondent states that the cocksfoot has ripened rapidly during the last few days, and reaping is now in full swing round Akaroa Harbour and Little River. The crops generally are thin and disappointing in the earliest paddocks. From the outer bays, however. reports are more hopeful, there being some good average crops. A few of the later paddocks are equal to. if not better than, those of last season. Labour is now urgently needed in these bays, the seed having ripened so quickly that the growers are anxious to get it down before it shakes. For good reapers 19 per hour is being paid, and inferior hands can earn according to ability. Returns t»» hand up to the present point to about half the usual yield.
