Berlin. December 13. — ; In the Reichstag, Herr Von Kin-derlin-Waechter made conicliatory references to France in Morocco. Paris, December 13. The French press comments on Herr Von Bethmann-Hollweg’s statement in the Reichstag ard no-1 ticeably reserved, though the statement dealing w’ith the relations of Russia and Germany has created slight uneasiness.

MUST HAVE COLONIES. Berlin, December 13. Herr Lindequisr. delivering the Colonial Statement in the Reichstag, said the Germans were thoroughly persuaded that they must have colonies, and in view- of the serious shortage of cotton and the demand for wool, it was essential that German industries should obtain their raw- material from their own colonies and become independent of foreigners with controllable speculation and cornering operations. The trade of the colonies during 1910 had increased from seven to nine million sterling.
