Government .. .. 291 Unionists 231 Majority for Government 60 The returns up to the present moment show the state of the parties as follows :— For the Government— England 173 Wales 24 Scotland 30 Ireland (Redmondites) 59 ~ (O’Biienites) 5 291 Unionists— England .... .. 205 Wales 2 Scotland .. .. .. 8 Ireland 16 231 So far 34 Labourites have been elected. The Liberals have gained 22 seats and the Unionists 21. In January last, out of the first 503 seats the Government took 285 and the Unionists 218.
