The last-named five have to fire off three shots each at 600 yards to decide which two shall remain in the 50.

The close of to-day’s proceedings and the last of the matches to decide the final shots in the Champion Belt warrants reference to the excellence of the arrangements under Colonel Collins. The events were started with the greatest punctuality. Every facility was given to the press representatives by Colonel Collins and the military clerical staff. That the markers, members of the Permanent Artillery, did good work is shown by the few challenges sustained. The register keeping performed by volunteers from various parts of the colony was exceptionally good, and the ammunition was all that could be desired. In the last three matters no association meeting in the colony has shown greater excellence.
