COMMERCIAL.
EsEiiD Office, Friday evening. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Company, Limited, report as follows on their Palmerston sale on iimrsd-y. We had a large yarding of well-bred cattle, bat sheep did not come forward according to advertised numbers, owing no doubt to the inclement weather, in epito of the rain, and although there were race meetings and other attractions there was a good attendance of the pnblic, and bidding at times was brisk. A very nice line of 86 quiet hand-fed empty heifers elicited keen competition, and realised the good price of £4. A pen of prime fat heifers made £6 5a 6d. With the exception of a line of 18-month steers and a few store cows, we quitted the whole of our entry at slightly enhanced values, and we anticipate that to-day’s good rain will tend to still further harden both the Cattle and sheep market. We quote Sheep.—Lambs 7s, forward ewes 7s.
