COMPULSORY HALFHOLIDAY.

Oamabu, Tuesday. A meeting of business people was held to-night, to consider the question of the compulsory closing of factories on Saturday, when it was carried unanimously that this meeting protests against tbe compulsory half-holdiday for factories being enforced in Oamaru, and that a protest be drafted, setting forth the reasons, and sent to the proper quarters. Steps were subsequently taken to form an Employers’ Union, which should watoh the employers’ interests in future.
