These incessant attaoks on railway lines, though they only dislocate traffio for a short time, throw an enormous strain on the staff of the Imperial military railway. A supply train was derailed and captured, and the engine was damaged by the dyna? mite. •Communication was, however, reBtored in the afternoon. On September 2 the line south of Eroonstad was cut and a train with ordnance stores was captured. The line was also out at America Siding, but the damage was made good by evening. On same day a train was fired upon near Heidelburg, the stoker being killed and driver wounded. On September 3 the line was cut south of Heidelberg, but was restored by noon. On the Pietersburg line the rails were torn up and an engine derailed, but the line was repaired again by midday, deviation lines being laid down. On September 4 the line was out early in the morning at Honingspruit, but by ten o'clock communication was restored.
