THE TRUANT OFFICER.

Sir,— ln your report of the Education Board's meeting the chairman is reported to have said, " That although the Waipawa school Committee had stated that the truant officer had only visited "VVaipawa three times, he had really visited Waipawa 15 times." As such a statement would lead the public to infer that the committee had intentionally made a misstatement I would point out that the committee had only been made aware of three visits. If the truant officer has made the number of visits he says he has, without informing the master or committee, he cannot complain if an inaccurate return has been sent, in to the Board. — I am, &c, Jas. Williams, Chairman School Committee, Waipawa. Waipawa, July 19th, 1900.
