Eahu arrived back from the coast on Sunday night. Whilst working at Cape Turnagain on Friday her eurf boat capsized, losing part of _ the cargo. The crew were all successful in reaching shore, and after being taken on board by the ship's boat the Eahu returned to Napier for another surf boat, and left at 1 p.m. for the coast. The 'S.s. Ahuriri left on Sunday night for Blaokhead. The blb. Toroa discharged at the breastwork yesterday, and left for Westport, where she loads for New Plymouth. ■ The Union Company's s.s. Flora arrived from Northern ports early yesterday morning, and left at noon for Wellington and South. The TJnion Company's s.s. Te Anau is due to-morrow forenoon from Wellington, and is advertised to leave for Gißborne and Auckland at 5 p.m. ihe'Tyser- Company's s.s. Indradevi finished her Napier work last night, and left for Lyttelton. Returns of the gold and timber trade on the golden West Coast last year showed a large increase on that of the previous term. Last year 15,116,170 superficial feet ot timber was shipped from Greymouth, as compared with 11,783,292 feet' in the corresponding period. The output from tho Brunner and Blackball ' coal mines in 1899 was 168,386 tons, compared with 119,529 tons for 1898. In May of this year 15,619 tons coal, 200 tons coke, 103 tons bricks, and 914,225 feet timber was sent from Greymouth.
