CHAMBERS OF COMMERCE.

[BT TEL.BQRAPH.] Wellington, Wednesday. At a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce this afternoon the following resolution was carried :— " That this meeting of Wellington Chamber of Commerce is opposed to the Chambers of Commerce and Mines Registration Bill, because it would be antagonistic to the welfare and best interests of the community, and the Chamber hereby confirms the action of the Council." It was also decided to petition both branches of the Legislature againßt the passage of the bill.

Chbistchubch, Wednesday. The committee of the Canterbury Chamber of Commerce passed the following motion: — This chamber most emphatically protests against the Chambers of Commerce and Mines Registration Bill, now before the House, on the grounds that the provisions of the bill are a direct infringement of the personal liberties of the people.
