The editor does Dot hold himself responsible for opinions expressed by correspondents. "HATS OFF IN FRONT." Sib, — I shall feel obliged if you will allow me space to air the old complaint that crops up every time a theatrical company visits Napier and has a good ' house. It is the women's hat nuisance. I would call it "ladies' hat nuisance," but the term would be out of place applied to some of the wearers, for often when politely asked to take off the obstruction, a rude reply is given, or a stare that is meant to sink one into oblivion for daring to be bo impertinent. Last night was an example. Except tothose who were fortunate enough to get front seats, the dancing and ventriloquial items were thrown away on account of so many straw hats being worn. I would respectfully suggest to remedy this evil that large placards be placed in prominent positions requesting that all hats be taken off as soon as the curtain rises. This would afford everyone the same opportunity of seeing the performance. — I am, &c, Nemo. Napier, January 11th, 1899.
