Auckland, Tuesday. At a meeting of the Board of Governors of the Auckland College and Grammar School the correspondence lnoluded a memo, from the Auditor-General Id conI nectlon with the Board's balance-sheet, taking exception to several items. Amongst these was an item of £84 paid to tha Rev, Canon Nelson for services rendered aa aotlng-maiter at the Grammar Sohool while the governors were securing the servlooa of a new master in one of the schools. The Auditor- General aonoldered Mr Nelson could not justifiably take the money, oa he was a member of the Board of Governom at the time and should therefore rcjEand the money. It was decided to reply that the Looal Bodies' Contractors Act did not apply to a Board of Governors, and there was nothing to prevenC Mr Nelson from being legally employed by tbe Board,
