(Received September S, 7.30 p.m.) Hobart, Thursday. Sir Thomas Braddon, Premier, has written to the Agent- General with a view of ascertaining how the colonies generally, and Tasmania especially, are sltnated with regard to power ot fixing differential duties, the Colonial Office having laid down that no differential duties can be established without the bill making them being reserved for the Royal assent. Sir Thomas Braddou points oat that frem inquiries made when he was Agent General tor Tasmania he gathered that the colonies have power as between themselves to establish differential duties. In Tasmania an Ant already exists permitting the imposition of differential duties by reolproclty treaties.
