J. W. Walker, the well known mining expert, better known as " Long drive Walker,' has tbu afternoon applied for 100 acres special claim on the foreshore, which takes in the seaward continuation of the old Caledonian, May Queen, and other well known belts of ore lodes. The amount of cash proponed to be invested for sinking the shaft is £25.000. This Is one of the most important mining events at the Thames proper for many years.
