Tbis morning, before the local Bencb, Ole OUen was charged with being drnnk on Sunday. Be failed to appear, and bis bail, 103, was estreated.
The monthly meeting of the Wtupawa Town Board was held to-Hay, when were present Messrs M'Greevy (cbairmuD), Ratbbone, Bennett, Scrlmgeour, and Abrahams. The chairman reported that the drain in the bush was not quite finished, but the contractor was making a splendid job of it. The road overeeer said 32 chains werp finished, and a progress payment of £16 was passed for payment. — Th« remuneration of the supervisor of the new offices was fixed at 5 per cent on the contract price of the work.— Mr C Watts asked that Abbot-street be formed before tbe winter tet irj. Decided to form and metal a footpath on Wasta 1 side of the street.— ln reply to a question the clerk said he had personally served Mr M'Dougall with a notice to remove bis fence off tbe road Id Wbverley-street. Decided that if not complied with in a reasonable time the Board would remove it at his expense. — The inspector of nuisances reported that a number of persons named had insnffi clent or unsuitable pans. Decided that the inspector see that the persons named get proper pans to his satisfaction, and that he report to next meeting. — In reply to the Board the clerk said the rates were not all paid, and those in arrear on 16ch May would be charged 10 per cant extra. List of defaulters to be prepared for next meeting. — The road overseer reported the work done during the month, including the tarring footpath opposite Llmbrlck's hotel, bnt a portion beyond id was not yet sufficiently firm. He had procured timber for kerbing the footpath lu Kuatanlwha-rO'id, and would proceed with the work at onee unless otherwise instructed. No action. — Tbe clerk tendered his resignation, to take effect in a month. ' Tbis was accepted, tbe chairman to go over the accounts, applications to be called for by the 20th, and the meeting an its rising to be adjonrned till 22nd April to deal with them. — Tbe pay-sheet, totalling, £68 'Ii ad, was passed tor payment. — The Board then went into committee to consider a complaint aguinsb an employ 6 Mr Arrow, who resigned the office of clerk to the Town Board to-day, purposes retiring from public business, nnd will go to Phi Pirl to live wi'h hia Bon.
Last season Mr E. P. Cole of ODga collected and shipped one end a halt tons of honey, which reilhed 4|d peril). He is now (hipping two and a half tons, tbe produce of his hives for this season. This is a surprising quantity for one homestead in a lonely place like Onga Ooga. If be gets the same- p'ico again hU bees will have eirned him 34* per week,
It is understood that the Town Board agreed in committee to accept the resignation of Mr G. Ko3c, road overseer.
The secretnry of the county hospital reports as follows forthewfek :—Tweniytwo in patient?, inclndiog three females ; seven males end two females received during the week ; five males discharged ; no deaths.
