(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) April I, 1595. The attendance at the Wesleyan Church last evening when tbe Rev. W. J. Elliott prenched his firewell sermon was a very large onf, ind will probab'y ba equalled at the social, which tikes place to-morrow (Tuesday) night, at which the rev, gentleman bids farewell to his congregation. A very good programme, including songs, &c, by members ot the choir and friends haß been prepared, and will no donbt prove very enjoyable. The Hawke's Bay County Football Club are holding their first meeting of the season on Wednesday next at Mr H. O. Canlton's hotel, when arrangements for the ensuing winter will be discussed. On Wednesday afternoon the Heretaungn CycllDg Clob hold a rtmd race, for which the following handicaps have been declared by Mr CJ. Morrison :— D. Mnc I donald, scratch ; G. The Hawkn'a B «y County Cricket Clnb met the " Etceteras " 10-dav on the Heretaonca school grounds. The County went in first and put together 109, including the iollowiDg donble fignre scores :— F. Tomoana 18, J. Tilaroa 17, Mills 14, Holland 11, Gore 10, and Lemnel 10. The Etceteras mide a fairly good stand, Tottenham acoriDß 26, Harley 15, and Lowrv (not out) 14, the inoings closing for 68 In the second Innings Holland and Mills scored 31 and 59 respectively, not ont, and the County declared their innings closed with the scoro at 97. This, however, proved too much for the visitors, who were all out for 66, Tottenham again having made the top ecore, 30, and H. B. Williams reaching 15. Two of the County team being absent, two of the school first eleven, White and Charlton Froeer, took their place, glviog White an opportunity of doing good service with the leather, taking elx wickets for 12 rnns, an extremely creditable performance. Nnkn being married to Mr Jury Arona, the ceremony being performed, in tbe presence of a very large assemblage of natives and Europeans, by tbe Ven. Archdeacon S. Williams. The drees of the bride was an extremely tastefnl one, being of nun's veiling and silk elegantly trimmed with beautiful lace and sprays of artificial flowers. The dress was of locil manufacture, being designed and made by Miss Cosser, at Messrs Blythe and Co.'s establishment in this town.
