: (Received March 19, 1 p.m.) : .Melbourne, Saturday.. Meteorites of extraordinary size were seen on Thursday afternoon throughout the western districts of Victoria. Meteorites were also observed in Melbourne, and the phenomena extended as far south as the Soutli Australia border. They were accompanied by earth tremors. (Received March 20, 11 a.m.) Sir W. J. Clark, hart., was seized with a paralytic stroke tliis morning and is now in a most serious condition. (Reooived March 21, 1.15 a.m.) '• j The statement that Sir W. J. Clarke • had been seized- with a' paralytic stroke is incorrect. The gentleman so seized wns Mr William Clarke. . . The foundation, stone pf Mr Strong's Australian church was laid yesterday by Sir Wm. Clarke. . A company is being formed to purchase the patent right of Wolsley's sheepshearing machine. The shares are going off rapidly. The" cricket .match Smokers v. Nonsmokers was continued to-day. The Nonsmokers continued their innings, which closed for 803. The Smokers had lost 3 wickets for 267 runs when the stumps wore drawn for the day.
