Mr Gillies, Premier, has written to the Premier of New South Wales expressing a hope that the International Exhibition ► in Melbourne in 1888 will not clash^ with . the centenary celebration at Sydney. Mr Jennings has indirectly intimated that he believes the two events will in no wise ■ clash. (Received December 3, 1 a.m.) The s.s. South Australia, which arrived to-day from Adelaide, brought 100 returned diggers from the Teetu'pa goldfield*.
