TIPS FOR TO-DAY'S SPORTS.

(By "Man on the Hill.") The sports to-day on the Recreation Ground, under the auspices of the Hawke's Bay Amateur Athletic Club, ought to attract a very large attendance of the public. I have watched the men very carefully while training, and if their practising form combined with previous performance may be trusted, the following series of tips should turn out the " right thing." I may say a word or two about my preference for the man selected to carry off the Bracelet and 880 yards events. I find that many who, like myself, know everything when acting in the easy position of professor of tilings in general, do not care for Parker's chances. I, venture, to differ, as I am certain he will make' things very warm, and that is the reason I give him my vote. The following is how I expect to see the finishes turn out :—

220 Yards Handicap. — Carnell, 1 ; Davis, 2 ; Cato or Fordej 3. 120 Yards Hurdles.— J. Walker, 1 ; Bell, 2; Ross, 3.

440 Yards (Bracelet) J. Parker, 1 ; .Gibbons, 2 ; King, 3. High Jump. — Walker, 1 ; Ross, 2 ; Forde, 3.

150 Yards Handicap.— J. Cato, ljForde, 2 ; J. Parker, 3. Mile Handicap.— Gibbons, 1 j R. Lamb, 2 ; Fenwicko, 3.

100 Yards Handicap.— Forde, 1 ; King, 2 ; Kelly, 3. 440 Yards Hurdles. --J. Cato, 1 ; Nelson, 2 ; Ross, 3. Mile Walk.-Liddle, 1 ; E. Crowley, 2 j Swan, 3. 880 Yards Handicap.— J. Parker, 1 ; C. Lamb, 2 ; Gibbons, 3.
