H A YD °CX Tho Livor has boon known as the great Blood Maker and Blood Purifier of tha Circulation. From its size and spongy structure it plays a most important parb in tho animal economy, as regards assimilation and mitrition. Food taken in tho mouth and acted upon by tho digestive ; organs of tho stomach is converted into Glucoso and Poptono, nnd in these forms enters the portal vein. Horo, by tho action of tho Livor, thoso substances aro converted into a. form ol augar and pass out of tho Livor by a large voln, called tho Hopatio Voin, into tho gonoral circulation. The now material now formed sorves two purposes, viz., tho maintenance of heal in tho body, and assisting in tho cell growth of the system. ■ DrMurchison says:— "The composition of bilo and it 3 socrctionis vory complex.
