THE KEY. J. BERRY IN ENGLAND.
The following letter from the Eev. Josep.h^Berry/ formerly of Napier, and now acting as Immigration Agent in Eng- ' land for the Government of New Zealand, ':<.-. addressed to the Editor of the Methodist ■■■ <■■ TZzcprder cannot fail to prove intersting to many of our readers : — -■■... \ ; As many hundreds of your readers have i
sought my advice on the subject; of emigration to New .Zealand} and , acores,of. letters _df inquiry still rdach me every*, week; kiiidly permit hie to say through " your columns that I aiii now arranging to return lo the colony, and cannot undertake ito answer letters of inquiry after Septic, _■ .. .- . I should also like to add that business in New Zealand is at present in a condition that is far from satisfactory, and that just how emigrants to that colony should consist mainly. of capitalists, farmers, farm laborers, young women, and such mechanics as are in a position to bear a little disappointment and difficulty at first, should such await them. There is much less scope now for miscellaneous, emigrants than there was a year ago,' or will be, I hope and believe, a year hence. I need not occupy your space in detailing the reasons for this, as my views on the subject are sufficiently explained in the second edition . of my" pamphlet oil New Zealand, which may be had from, any bookseller for (kl; For capitalists there never was such an opening, in New Zealand as at this moment • but those who have no capital may make a serious mistake in going at present, unless they are sure that they have in them the sort of labor that is now in demand."
