PROPOSED DIVISION OF THE BOROUGH INTO WARDS.

The petition to the Governor praying for the division of the borough into wards having been remitted to Captain Ruessdll, M.U.R., for a recommendation as to the number and divisons of the wards, our junior member concultcd with Mr Sutton. Together they sketched out the plan given below, and they have forwarded it to Mr W. E. Knowles for consideration :— First (Spit) Ward, to include all the Spit reclaimed land, Maori and Gough Islands, and town sections 451, 45&, 453, 464, 455, and 406. Seoond Ward.— Commencing at bade boundary of section 110, Milton Road, through centre of Clive Square, following centre of Munroe-street to boundary of Municipality, running from there in a straight line to high water mark on sea boach, following high water mark to the boundary of Wilson's property, running up centre of the road to Large and Townley's workshop, following the back boundaries of sections 147, 146, 148, 149, 150, and 151, crossing- Shakespeare-road, running along boundary of the survey reserve and sub-section 65, following the boundaries of sections 64 and 65 to the starting point. Third Ward. — Commencing at back corner of section 108, running across Clive-square through centre of Monroestreet to the inner lagoon, following the • edge of the lagoon up Wellesley-road and Thackeray- street next the Town Hall reserve, Avhere it crosses Carlyle-street, following along the front boundary of sub-sections 20 and 37, reserve 66, subsections 39, 41, 42, and 44, and round the end of section 108 to the starting point. Fourth Ward. — All lands not otherwise described lying to the north and cast of the centre of Milton-road. Fifth Ward. — All lands not otherwise described lying" to the south and west of the centre of Milton-road.
