WELLINGTON GOSSIP.

("By Telegraph.] [prom our own correspondent.] Wellington, Tuesday. The position in the political world is practically unaltered. Mr Hall to-day was very bounceable, and in the Times, and in the lobly boasts are made that the Ministers have a " trump card " in their possession in the shape of a promise from the Governor, that he will grant a dessolution. This, however, is not credited, as such . action would be entirely inconsistent with the Goevrnor's action in New South Wales, and without a shadow of excuse on constitutional grounds. It is, on the contrary, believed that the, Governor has given Mr Hall a certain time to show that he is able to carry on the government of the country, and that if he cannot do this His Excellency will call to his counsels those who can do so. The threat of . dissolution has, however, failed to influence anyone, and even the " bank screw," which is said to have been severely applied in certain cases in the Ministerial interest, has also failed of effect. On the other hand, Tomoana is said to be greatly dissatisfied with the Native Minister's statement and policy, and to intend resigning and joining the Opposition. To-day the Premier made an excellent speech, and Sir George Grey a very able one in replying, but of cowrse nothing was done, and it does not seem likely that anything will be done to-night. The extraordinary course taken by the Governor in his memorandum to Mr Hall re the latter's resignation of his seat in the Legislative Council has to-night caused considerable sensation.
