Knneram's cottage, next to it, is now burning, but the fire will stop there. A heavy shower is pourings whioh is very welcome. The engines have been manned by the leading citizens. There was a scarcity of volunteers, said to be because they were not treated well on former occasions. A string of persons handed buckets backwards and forwards between the river ani the Masonic building, lately bought ,by the New Zealand Insurance. The buckets were forwarded to men on the roof. The balance of evidence, so far as it could be gathered, is heavily in. favor of the opinion that the fire originated at Nasmyth's. There are tons of property in the Government buildings.
