HARBOR BOARD ELECTION.
The official declaration of the poll was made at noon yesterday by the Keturning Officer, Mr G-. W. Cullen. The numbers were stated as follows : — Stuart, John 381 Robjohns, Henry Charles . . ... 334 Smith, John Alexander . . . . 328 Williamß, Henry . . . : . . 317 Sutton, Frederick! 188 Kennedy, Alexander . . . . . . 171 The Returning Officer declared Messrs Stuart, Robjohns, and Smith to be elected members of the Napier Harbor Board. Mr Smith, who was the only one of the candidates present, expressed himself very grateful indeed to the ratepayers for electing him. "It is our turn now," he added, " and we will see what we will do. It was time there was a change in the j Government." (Applause and laughter.) Mr Ellis said that on behalf of Mr Robjohns he thanked the ratepayers. They might be certain that Mr Robjohns would endeavor to get a breakwater, and do his utmost against the Kidnapper scheme, (Applause.) He also thanked the ratepayers on behalf of Mr Stuart. The proceedings then terminated.
