CRICKET MATCH.

STAR, C. C. V. THE PRESS. This match was played at Taradale on Saturday afternoon, and resulted in a draAvn game, it getting too dark to play ; but Aye have no doubt that the Press would have won if the match had been played out, they making 86, while their opponents only succeeded in getting 65, Avith one man to go in. The principal scorers for the Press were Messrs J. DinAviddie and J. O'Regan, the former putting 22 together in true cricket style, while the latter played a very careful innings for 14, the oidy double scores of the innings. The only double figures on the Star side Avere made by Messrs Tilley and Mogridge, which Avere 11 respectively. The scores on the Press side would undoubtedly have been much higher than they A\ r ere, but for the fact that several AA'ho had been selected from the Telegraph Avere unable to attend, thus leaving the Heraid the only office from which to select an eleven. The fielding of both teams shoAved plenty of room for improvement, it being evidently due to AA r ant of practice. The Star's bowling was superior to that of their opponents, they having also several changes. The fojk loAving are the scores : — PRESS.
