PILLAR POST OFFICES.

Sin, — I observed in a paragraph which appeared in a recent issue of the Hawke's Bay Herald an excellent suggestion^ viz. , the desirability of establishing pillar boxes for the receiving of letters in different parts of the town of Napier. It is certainly, as you point out, a very great inconvenience to many persons at present to have no place in which to post letters but the general post-office, and I hope your suggestion will be acted on without much delay. The additional expense, I am sure, would not. be much, and the convenience to the public would be very great. In most of the towns of any importance pillar post-offices are extensively used, and I think Napier, with its 5000 or COOO inhabitants, is entitled to have the system established in it. — I am, &c. , PROGRESS.
