AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET.
MB. ALFBED BUCKLAND'S BEPOBT. (Fur tho week ending Oct. 1.) On Saturday last, horso stock otlered in greater numbers than of late. For young animals in condition there was a fair inquiry and a ready sale, hut aged stock and those out of oondition were very dull of sale.— At the oattlo sale hold at Waiuku on Wednesday all good young cattle penned were sold, but prices ruled lower than lato markets about os per head. Dairy cows were very dull of wile, and fully one half of those offeied were withdrawn ; 160 hi-ad of cattle were sold.— At the Heiuuera yards, on Thurt-day, dairy cows wer*. ofh-reil iv limited numbers, hut were dul- of wale. large numbers, and were much lower in price. A few well bred grown steers, in fresh condition, brought nearly late values ; but cows and growing cattle were from 10a to 30s per hoad under late markets. Pat oattle offered an average supply ; 71 bead sold j prioes ruled rather lower than last week. A few t-niall-sized choice oattle brought about 37a Gd, but the greater number of those sold were from 32s to 35s the 1001 b. Fat sheep were in moderate supply ; about 600 penned, tbe greater part of them wethera ; prices rallied from last week from Is to 2a per head. Fat lambs were in moderate supply ; those of good quality brought from 10s to 16s each. Kwes and iambs were very dull of sale ; they brought from 10a to 15a the couple. GABBY, GILLES, HUNTER, AND CO.'S BEPOBT The horae market has been quiet, without alteration in value. Good horses are still iv request, and first-class animals oan be placed at fully lato ratea, although at auotion on Saturday last the week's quotations wero barely maintained. Bidding waa spirited for xood stamps, but other descriptions were neglected. Hacks aro worth from S6 5* to £12 ; draught horsea from £22 10s to £38 each. Forage: The trade ia rather more cheerful, but without any alteration from last week's rates. Tho quantity offered on Wednesday was scarcely up to tbe average. Oattle : The supply was large, and last week's prioes scarcely sustained. Dairy cows wero not offered largely, holders being unwilling to force sales iv the present state of tha market. Stores were penned in large numbers, and, although buyers were in attendance, prices were heavy at a reduction of 10s per head. Thn depression was even more manifest at the Waiuku sale, where tbo muster of cattle waa ui> to the average, but sales were more difficult to effect than is usual at this favourite market. The numbers sold were about the average. The beef market is without material alteration, tho general ruu being about 35s per 1001 b. We quote dairy cows, from £8 loa to £12 5s ; store cows, from £(> 5s to £G 17s Gd ; yearlings, from £4 5s to £<_ 17s 6d ; calves, from £2 5s to £3 12s 6d ; two-year-old steers, from £5 12s Gd to £6 5s ; ibieo or four-year-old .steers, from £7 to £9 each. Sheep : The supply has been limited, particularly of prime ; there ia do alteration in value except for inferior pens, which sold a shade higher. Pigs are scarce, good sorta being worth from 4U to 5d per lb.
