NATIVE INTELLIGENCE.
Te Kooti was lately at Kaiteriria, a pah situate on the .shores of Lake Rofcokakahi, about eight miles from Rotorua. It has since been ascertained that he has joined the Ureweras. We hear it is probable that Henare Tomoana and about 120 men will leave Napier on Thursday or Friday for Patere, by way of Mohaka, to act in conjunction with Mr. Hamlin and the other East Coast natives. A rumour prevailed on Saturday thafc Kipa, a friendly native, and one relied upon, had gone over to the enemy from Major Roberts' division. Ifc was also reported that, before doing so, he drew the troops into an ambuscade, and that Sergeant Carkeek was killed. Mr. Ormond is at present out of town, but we do not think that any authoritative information to the above effect has been received by the Government.
