It had not been expected that the debate would close before Saturday, but ifc collapsed suddenly. Mr. Fox made a brief reply, and the division shewed the following numbers — ayes, 40; noes, 29: majority, 11.

On Tuesday Mr.Orinbhd arid Colonel Haultain occupied tlio wliole night. Yesterday, Mr. Carleton Wov_d his former amendment. Messrs. Ludlam, Farnall, Jollie, and Borlase followed.

To-day .the .amendment was negatived on the voices. Mr. Williamson and Mr, Kelly were the only speakers prior to Mr. Fox replying.

Messrs. Fitzherbert," Featherston, and Bell would have spoken ; this evening had the debate not collapsed.

After the division, Mr. Stafford adjourned the House till three o'clock to-morrow.
