A large public meetin^has been held here, to protest against the Mjddle Island being held responsible for a neiw war loan. There were five resolutions, strongly condemnatory of a new war loan on the security , of Middle Island revenue, all of which were carried.
Thitrsday, June 24. A distinct shock of earthquake waa felt here at 11.20 to-day. x '
